In baseball, there is a saying that goes, “Batters will win you games, but bowlers will win you championships.” India has produced several strong batters who have done well on the cricket pitch. This post tells about the cricket updates and best bowlers India has had during the time of test cricket.
- Anil Kumble –
Anil Kumble is a tall bowler who uses his right arm to throw leg breaks. Kumble didn’t spin the ball as much as most wrist spinners. He was India’s best match-winner ever when playing cricket with the red ball. The only people who have ever taken all 10 wickets in a single inning are bowlers Jim Laker and Anil Kumble. This was done at the Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium, where Pakistan batted for a total of 74 runs and he took 10 wickets. The Wisden Almanack, which is the most important book about cricket, said that the bowling performance was the second-best of all time. He was out of the game for 156 legs before wicket dismissals, which is more than anyone else.
- Ravichandran Ashwin –
At the beginning of his career, Ravichandran Ashwin chose to only play the shortened version of the game. A few years later, he played his first game of red-ball cricket. Soon after, he became known as one of India’s best bowlers on the subcontinent. Ashwin was the first player in the history of test cricket to get 250, 300, and 350 wickets. In test cricket, he also has the record for the most Player of the Series awards, with nine. He is an important player for India when it comes to testing matches. If he can keep his health in check, he might be able to break the record for most wickets taken by an Indian bowler in a test match.
- Kapil Dev –
At the time he retired, Kapil Dev was probably India’s best fast bowler and all-around player of all time. The Haryana Hurricane never stopped playing, not even when they got a little hurt. His outside pitches were so dangerous that no batter could ever hit one. He was able to hit the ball a long way because of his willow swing.
- Harbhajan Singh –
Harbhajan was a bowler who could also bat. He was from the area of Punjab called Ludhiana. He could throw right-arm off-breaks and, when the situation called for it, he could also throw quick runs. They started bowling at the same time that Anil Kumble was at the top of his game, and the two of them quickly made a name for themselves as a deadly pair. Since Kumble has retired, Harbhajan Singh has become India’s first choice when it comes to using spin bowlers, both at home and abroad. He played in 103 tests, and when he was done, he had 417 wickets to his name. He is also known for being the first Indian spinner to get a hat trick in a test match.
- Ishant Sharma –
After he bowled an amazing spell to Ricky Ponting, a young tall fast bowler who was only 19 years old at the time became well-known because of his great high arm action and consistent 140 km/h speeds. Ishant’s life and career have been nothing but a whirlwind. He had a good start, but as the game went on, he wasn’t as good as he was at the beginning. But in 2014, he helped India win at Lord’s for the first time in 28 years by bowling a career-high 7/74 against England on the fifth-day surface.
- Zaheer Khan –
India’s legendary left-handed pacer Zaheer Khan was known for his skill with the SG, the Dukes, and the Kookaburra. He could see that the batter was having a tough time. When it came to getting wickets, the fact that he could also make the old ball swing backward gave the captain a reliable alternative. It was amazing to see how well he could consistently bowl to a left-handed batter. It was quite a sight. In a short amount of time, he became India’s bowling coach by default.
- Bishan Singh Bedi –
Bishan Singh Bedi was an orthodox spinner who was left-handed and played for India in the 1960s and 1970s. In an era when bouncers were supposed to scare batters, Bedi would use flight to trick them with drift and spin. Because he had so much control over his bowling, he was able to keep the ball in the air for a second or two longer than his competitors. Because he could bowl for long periods during the day, his captain thought he was a valuable team member. Even on the flattest decks, Bedi was able to spin the ball with an amazing degree of consistency.
- Ravindra Jadeja –
The title “SIR” should only be given to a small number of cricket players in the modern day. One of these people is Ravindra Jadeja. He doesn’t throw the ball very often, which is very clear. He gives the batters a chance to catch their breath by bowling at a lower speed and finishing his overs quickly. As of right now, everyone agrees that Jadeja is the best player in the Test cricket competition in every way. He is a true all-around athlete who can not only score runs quickly but also get dangerous batters out of the game with a rocket throw from center field.
- Bhagwat Subramanya Chandrasekhar –
BS Chandrasekhar uses his right arm and left leg to spin. His work as a whole can be used as a model. Because of polio, his right hand never got to use it to its fullest. Even though he was not perfect, he worked hard to become one of India’s best game-winners on the international stage. He used a leg spin to make things hard for the best players in the game. In 1971, he took six wickets against England at the Oval for only 38 runs, which helped India win their first Test match in England. This was the first time India had ever won in England.
- Javagal Srinath –
Even though he was a right-handed pacer, Javagal Srinath had a high arm action that gave him a lot of bounce off the ground. In the later years of his career, Srinath started to use a wider range of bowling styles. He had trouble with injuries his whole career, which led to the untimely end of his career. Srinath has played in 67 Test matches and taken 236 wickets throughout his career. He had a great one-inning performance against Pakistan at Eden Gardens, when he took 8/86.
